WiP - 15mm M10C Foliage

Hi folks,

I've been experimenting with foliage on my M10C, and could do with a little input as to whether it adds anything to the model/looks natural, or if I should just give up on the idea. Opinions welcome as while I think it looks good, I think I might be a little biased!

So far, I have only added some to the camo netting on the turret.

I'm thinking I will touch up the 'branches' with a darker brown shade, as they are just the colour of the sea-foam sprigs at the moment. I am looking for genuine negative or positive feedback on this, as it is a big change from what I have done in the past (deliberately so, I wanted these to stand out as not being 'just another' British unit, with them being Canadian).

Leave a comment and let me know!

  1. It looks much better then foam, but if you are using kitchen herbs for the green, they will eventually turn to a pale beige due to sunlight.

    1. Thanks Johan, they are not kitchen herbs, but a sort of artificial flock. I'm hoping they won't fade too much...

  2. Looks pretty good Jamie, does it look like something authentic you've seen in WW2 pics, if so then it's grand. Not sure how you've attached it but when I used to do 1/72 modelling watered down PVA will give the wee bits even foam a better texture to last and paint. Inside a tea bag or crushed tea leaves will give you a good material to. Some make cracking ground leaves.

    1. Thanks Paul, they are special leave shaped flock type stuff. I'll do a post with details. They were in various shades of green as well, the only thing I've painted is the 'branches' a darker brown.

I've not found many pics of Canadian M10C's - the main aim with these guys is just to make them a bit different. As they are more defensive style weapons, I've gone for more attempt at camo. I've tried to keep it toned down and small as some of the foliage attempts I've seen don't do the scale any justice!

  3. I think it looks good. Much better than most 15mm leaves on tanks. I like that they aren't too bright and that you haven't done too much.

  5. I'm pretty much of the same opinion as Cameron on these. Not too bright so look more realistic than a lot of other flock type "leaves".

Overall mate, am rather impressed with how these came out and your placement of them seems very natural indeed.
