But this does feel like the first time I have sat down since I got home!
Anyway, onto swag.
The show seemed busy and had the usual range of traders (but again, not as good a selection as Carronade at Falkirk).
I picked up:
These three books, mainly due to the total lack of 15mm WW2 models. The Battlegroup book I got more because I like the rules and the pictures - as well as the painting guide. The other two I got for £10 and £5 respectively. I'm not a big fan of the Guard's armoured units - for various reasons but mainly their performance during Market Garden. But I do like personal experience from Tank troopers.
Model wise:
Some Daimler Dingo's and an Auster AOP - both bought 2nd hand |
£2 for all these packs of GZG 15mm Sci Fi troops and 'ships crew' (ala Serenity). Very very nice models and a bargain at that price. |
Tufts and static grass. as well as:
10(!!!) packs of Decals. These should provide all I need for my Tank Squadron - and for the Auster.
I also made a start to my terrain collection - with a felt table cloth, 2 hills and 84" worth of hedgeline!
I may have some tree's winging their way to me care of Paul and I've been searching about online for buildings and the likes. I would prefer the 'stackable' resin types but I'm struggling to find ones that are battle damaged (the idea of undamaged houses on the battlefield in Normandy seems rather strange). If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to leave a comment.
Quite the haul. Those mininatur tufts and things are great.
ReplyDeleteI think so Cameron. A bit pricey but I love the impact they have on what is otherwise a boring base.
DeleteThere's a shop near me that sells those tufts and such but they are a bit pricey. Are they any good?
ReplyDeleteHi Aruki - I really like them. There are some brands that are more expensive than others. I think the army painter ones are about the same price for half the pack size I got. They really brighten the bases up and give a bit of character. You could also use different colours or groupings to help differentiate between units.
DeleteNice haul. Great bargain you got on the FT ships :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a good purchase, but a risky one.... And means my NSL need some supercap ships as well at some point.
DeleteIt's like reading a different language watching you talk full thrust! I've got yer trees sorted Jamiester! A shoe box full, will arrange a drop off or pick up soon
DeleteMininatur tufts are the best I've used thus far. Great value for money and they look far more natural on bases than say Army Painter or Gamers Grass.
ReplyDeleteVery nice haul mate. Not sure you needed the extra ships tho.... Just sayin'.
No, your right Dai - I've no need for them at all. I already have more than I can possibly paint. I just seem to impulse buy them whenever I see them. It's definitely something I will need to think about in the future.
