6MMRPC Update: Full Thrust - plus Zulu Diorama pics

A little update on my first try at a uniform interpretation of my New Anglian Confederation fleet paint scheme.

This batch is 6 Destroyers and a Heavy Destroyer, the Light Cruiser is included as it was the prototype paint scheme. It's also acting as lead ship for the two squadrons...

I think after taking these pics I did tidy up the paint jobs a little to fix some smudges and the likes. I still need to varnish these and sort out the bases. Painting on the flight stands was a winner, and made the whole thing simpler.

Obviously the paint scheme needs to change with the size of the ship and this was the first test of that. I was a lot (lot!) more confident with the colours this time around and was able to follow the theme quite easily. Still concerned about the lack of shading or other 'advanced' techniques. Again, thoughts welcome! The size of these mini's mean I'm not sure the simplicity is too much of an issue, but I may just be a little biased!

On a totally unrelated note, Ivor over at Saturday Mornings had posted some very nice pictures of Zulu warriors he had finished. I mentioned that the other year I had been at the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh Regiment in Breacon. The Royal Welsh Regiment is the successor of the 24th Regiment of Foot - of Rorkes Drift fame.

This diorama was very impressive and made up of 28mm figures. Some of the pics are not the best, but hopefully give an impression of the scale and quality of the display!

6MMRPC: Weekly Update (or; I may have been focusing on the wrong lead mountain!)

Hi folks, a short and slightly belated update from me - the two small dioramas were finished in the first week and a half, and since them I've not done much. This is mainly down to being on holiday.
Still, I did manage to do a few things. I dug out all my Full Thrust stuff, spray primed what I want to work on first and tonight started working on a few ships.

So, why do I think I mighty have been focusing too much on painting my WW2 stuff??

One small (!!!) pile of full thrust mini's - and some home made ships and 'other' ships for my collection!

Still bagged - NAC, ESU, UNSC, Japanese...

So to try and start making a dent in this mountain I've selected a NAC light carrier Battlegroup (not in the piles above) to try and paint. So far I've got them primed:

Notice how the shade of the paint darkens as it dries. The ship on the front right row is still wet, and back left is dry...

6MMRPC Finished: Ambulance Jeep (Battlegroup Overlord)

Third revision of this post, this time while I'm in a calmer state of mind and using a new app called 'Blogsy' which seems to do a lot more than the official blogger app. Like putting links in, resizing pictures, captions, linking to Picasa, etc.

Anyway, the model! 

This was a conversion of a Battlefront mini to resemble a 20mm model by Milicast. It's been given the same markings as my Ambulance Halftrack, making it part of 176 Field Ambulance, 51st Highland Division. The 'crew' figures are from Skytrex, and not Peter Pig as I stated earlier.
Modifications to the jeep included adding the stretchers and simple frames to hold them and adding Jerry cans and other stowage.

I was a bit sad that the front stretchers more or less totally covered the Red Cross on the bonnet. These were created using plasticard and are perhaps a bit out of scale. But I decided to use them anyway, leaving just a hint of the Red Cross underneath.

I've included pics of it alongside some of my other little creations, just to show the sorts of things I'm trying to achieve!
