6MMRPC: Finished! Sherman I's and Firefly

This week at home has allowed me to get the Sherman Tank's I was working on last weekend finished. I'm getting to the point that there isn't much left on my shelf ready to get finished off.

This batch consists of 3 Sherman I's and a Firefly - the troop leaders of 1st, 2nd and 3rd troop. The Firefly is that of the 1st troop.

The 3 Sherman I's are Battlefront resin and metal kits, while the Firefly is a plastic kit (from the Open Fire box). I'm not too sure about the Firefly as the barrel seems to be overly thick and chunky looking.

Stowage comes from Battlefront plastic kits, Skytrex and Peter Pig. Decals are from Doms Decals and I-94. Crew figures are Battlefront and Skytrex.

Next up... another 4 Shermans! Another 2 weeks working away from home, so I will be back to just what I can do at the weekend - and it looks like I have a game next Saturday (hopefully).

  1. Fantastic job - and the aerials look great.
That's a hell of a workload you've given yourself - but it'll look impressive when completed.

    1. Thanks Cameron. Getting there unit by unit - still not up to the standard of your own painting though!

  3. Great work on those Shermans, I like the stowage on them and the finished aerials are very convincing.

I see you base your tanks for FoW? I was thinking about doing that too as I think it adds a finishing touch, but most players don't seem to do it. Seeing these though I'll go ahead and do it. The little extra touches such as the white flowers and grass tufts I like too :)

    1. Thanks Lee. I think many of my regular readers would roll their eyes on seeing your comment about basing vehicles... ;)

I base all my Flames of War vehicles for a number of reasons. The main ones are visual - I like the way they look and I like everything kept to the same scale. Which I think with some vehicles based and some unbased messes that scale parity up.

I also hate the 'Flames of War Carpark' you see on a lot of tables and battle reports. I get the feeling some players would physically stack their tanks one on top of another if it meant hiding them behind one tree stump or chimney stack. I also base them for transport, as they are magnetized.

  4. Nice painting and customisation on these - adding bits like stowage makes them so much better :)

    1. Thanks Tamsin - I certainly like how it looks, and it's not that much extra effort.
