Finished: Cruel Seas British Armed Trawler

Hi folks,

I've continued work on clearing the contents of the painting shelf. The most recently completed model, from my Cruel Seas British fleet box, has sat there since December last year and has taken me a while to get going with it.

Completion was further delayed due to work on transcribing some paper DnD maps into an electronic format. This week I put a bit more effort in to get it 'done'.

This is a converted fishing trawler, taken into Royal Navy service and used in a variety of roles, including ASW patrols and mine clearing.

I've added some crew from the Cruel Seas British crew set. I also upgraded the weapons to something more like those seen on period ships. A fore mounted 3" artillery gun, and a twin Oerlikon in the rear. It also has depth charges. The standard loadout for these ships in Cruel Seas would be 2 x 3-pdr guns, along with a range of machine guns and an HMG turret (which has no representation on the model).

I've painted mine in a rather neater Royal Navy scheme than those commonly seen in other collections, mainly because my limited research didn't show these to be the rusted tubs everyone seems to think they were. Most pictures show them to be well kept and in clean grey, which is what I've done. Not sure the Royal Navy would tolerate any vessel being a rust bucket - any more than the army would have rusty tanks...

Finished: For Joshua! 10mm Trebuchet

Hi folks,

I've continued clearing the painting shelf lurkers this week.

This 10mm siege engine from Pendraken has been completed to fit in with my Knight army for the ongoing charity project For Joshua. Unable to fit on the standard 50x100mm bases, I've stuck two together using the bottom of the the Trebuchet. This just means that on the table the trebuchet will take up a full square.

It is a big beastie and comes with three crew members. I used some of the larger rocks from my sand as ammo, however I'm unsure how these three men would be able to shift any of them.

I had considered adding thread in order to represent the ropes, but I figures it would be tough to get the thickness and tension right, so it was best to leave that to the imagination.

Trying to finish off a WW2 1/300 British armed trawler next. Hopefully more progress will be made over the weekend.

Finished: 3mm Warhound Scout Titans

Hi folks,

Having finished with all the rebasing, I've decided to clear off some of the projects that have been sitting on my painting shelf over the winter.

I also based up a 10mm fantasy Lizardman army given to me by Pete for my For Joshua project. More on this later.

These two 3mm scale Warhound Scout Titans are 3d prints from a friend. I've had these for a while now, having finished the other two I had a couple of years back. Another set of models I had built up in my head to being a big issue to paint, that I completed basically over the weekend.

I took effort to match these in with my other two, giving me a nice pack of Warhounds:

These fit in well with my other Titans (a couple of 3d printed Reavers, and a few 3mm scale Stalkers from Vanguard Miniatures).

I've a few more models to do for this Titan force, including some 3d printed larger brutes. I've also still some Vanguard Miniatures models to do. However, those may be used to start off the opposition. I'll have a think.

These are painted up as Legio Praesagius Titans. I really should try and get a game of Adeptus Titanicus with these guys!
